Eight students from Teague Park Elementary School competed in the sixth annual fifth-grade U.S. Geography Bee on June 3. The eight students earned their spots in the Bee by being the two students in each homeroom who answered the most questions correctly on a qualifying assessment.

Fifth-grade students at Teague Park Elementary School, Michelle Nichols and Dawson Hebert were the recent winners of the school’s sixth annual grade five Geography Bee.
Students then competed against each other, in teams of two, vying for the title of champion.
The contestants in this year’s Geography Bee included Danielle Hanson, Andy Russell, Camden Dumont, Seth Beidelman, Matt Nadeau, Braden Paul, Dawson Hebert and Michelle Nichols.
Successful contestants were able to answer questions, without using a map, such as “what state is south of Nebraska, east of Colorado, west of Missouri and north of Oklahoma?” and “which state was originally part of California, then part of Utah, until it became its own state in 1864?” (Kansas and Nevada)
At the end of nearly 60 questions, in which all eight contestants wowed the audience with their wealth of geographical knowledge, Dawson Hebert and Michelle Nichols were able to come away with the title of fifth-grade U.S. Geography Champions and were awarded medallions by Geography Bee Mistress and fifth-grade teacher Cindy Levasseur.
