Machias Savings Bank has announced that it will be offering its 7th annual Community Development Grant. This year’s $25,000 award will be given to a deserving project(s) located or serving in Machias Savings Bank’s primary lending area as defined in its CRA Public File.
The goal of this grant is to fund projects that result in a satisfactory level of community development. Among the most favorably considered applications will be projects or services that: create or retain jobs, revitalize communities within our service area, help to provide affordable housing or other programs designed to assist low- to-moderate income individuals and/or families.
2010’s award was divided among six organizations including: Hancock County Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midcoast Maine, Rose M. Gaffney After School Program, Down East Business Alliance, KidCare America and Adopt a Block Program of Aroostook.
Since the grants inception, MSB has awarded $120,000 to 22 projects across our service area. Applications for this year’s Community Development Grant are available at all thirteen of Machias Savings Bank’s branches as well as on the Bank’s website, www.machiassavings.com.
