Flag flying

On Flag Day, June 14, the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Corporation held a dedication ceremony of 30 donated Flagpoles at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Caribou. The Houlton Lodge of Elks BPOE #835 donated an American Flag and Flagpole in Honor of all departed Elks Veterans. As the flag donated by Houlton Elks was raised, Harry Hafford, master of ceremonies, read, “So long as there are Veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” Raising the Flag during the ceremony were, from left, John Dunn, Past Exalted Ruler of Houlton Elks, Maine Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Kirk Cyr and Joe Bergan, Esteemed Loyal Knight of Houlton Elks.
