WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mike Michaud participated Aug. 3 in a firearms safety and range demonstration event that he co-hosted with Congressman Richie Neal (D-MA). Neal represents Smith & Wesson’s headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts, and Michaud represents Houlton, Maine where a Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility is located. The event was conducted at the U.S. Capitol Police Range located in the Rayburn House Office Building.

Members of Congress and their staffs were invited to the event to familiarize themselves with the safe handling of handguns and rifles. Certified firearms instructors were on hand to provide safety instruction and shooting tips.
Smith and Wesson, a 159 year old American firearms company, employs over 150 Mainers at their Houlton facility. The Smith & Wesson Academy, located in Springfield, is the longest running firearms training facility for America’s public servants.
