WASHBURN — Officials with the Washburn ATV Club are asking for the public’s help identifying the person(s) responsible for destroying property along the ATV trail north of the community.
“We are not impressed at all. Someone has ruined the canopied picnic area on the B&A trail heading toward Perham,” said Club President Roger Hewitt on the group’s Facebook page.
The damage occurred along a stretch of trail adjacent to Salmon Brook. The picnic table was a familiar point to stop and rest for many area ATV enthusiasts, providing an opportunity for riders to enjoy the scenery, stretch their legs and perhaps have a picnic lunch before continuing on with their trip. The damage is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Aug. 9.
“It looks like it could have been damaged by a side-by-side with aggressive tires and used two-wheel drive to rip it down,” said Hewitt.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hewitt at 551-3303 or the Maine Warden Service at 435-3231.
