Shackett, Cannon and Dee
named Washburn royalty

WASHBURN — The 2011 Junior, Teen and Miss Washburn Pageant was held on Saturday evening, Aug. 13, at the Washburn District High School Gymnasium, with six Junior, three Teen and two Miss contestants.
Following an opening number to “Light Up the World” from “Glee,” the girls competed in Sportswear, Talent and Evening Gown portions of the pageant. Their interviews were conducted earlier.

Makayla Shackett was named Junior Miss Washburn 2011 on Aug. 13. She performed a ballet dance to “Briar and the Rose” as her talent.
Makayla Shackett, crowned Junior Miss Washburn 2011, is the daughter of Wayne and Laurie Shackett. She performed a ballet dance to “Briar and the Rose” as her talent and received the Talent Award.
Danielle Thompson was named the first runner-up in the Junior Miss Washburn Pageant on Aug. 13. She performed a lyrical dance to “If I Die Young” as her talent.
The first Junior contestant was Danielle Thompson, daughter of Terry and Angela Thompson. Performing a lyrical dance to “If I Die Young” by the band Perry as her talent, Danielle was named the first runner-up.
Mackenzie Vaughn performed a lyrical dance to “Good Bye Yellow Brick Road” as her talent in the Junior Miss Washburn Pageant Aug. 13. She was named second runner-up.

Elizabeth White sang “I Will Rise” by Chris Tomlin as her talent. The daughter of Andy and Kelly White, Elizabeth was named Miss Congeniality, as were her younger sisters, Amanda and Samantha during the Little and Pre-Teen Pageant held in the afternoon.

Teen Miss contestants included Caitlyn Roix, daughter of Tim and Lee Roix. She performed a hip-hop dance to “Do You Remember” by Jay Sean as her talent and was named the first runner-up.
Tia Dee was named Miss Washburn 2011 in the pageant held on Aug. 13. Dancing to “Wake Me Up (Jitterbug)” as her talent, she also tied for the Talent Award.
Named Miss Washburn 2011 was Tia Dee, daughter of Diann Dee-Dobson and Sam Dobson and Roger Dee. She danced to “Wake Me Up (Jitterbug)” by Wham and tied for the Talent Award.
Breanna Hyde sang “Stupid Cupid” as her talent in the Miss Washburn 2011 Pageant on Aug. 13. Breanna was named the first runner-up and tied for the Talent Award.
Miss Washburn contestants included Breanna Hyde, daughter of Stacey and Sheldon Hyde. Breanna was named the first runner-up and tied for the Talent Award with her rendition of “Stupid Cupid” by Connie Francis.
Guest talent was performed by Sarah McEachern, Miss Northern Maine 2011 of Mapleton, by Moon Dance Studios, and by Erica Hemphill, Miss Teen New England American 2010 of Presque Isle.
