Extension plans annual meeting
The Aroostook County Extension Association’s annual meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church on Fleetwood Street in Presque Isle.
The business meeting will be preceded by a social time at 5:30 p.m. and a dinner served at 6 p.m. Reservations for dinner are required. The program for the evening will feature Aroostook County Homemakers Extension groups’ slide presentation and speakers of various extension groups, along with presentation of awards and election of board members and officers.

Maine Epsilon Chapter news
Maine Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Oct. 20, at the home of Judy Kenney with Helene Bernard as co-hostesses. The meeting was called to order by President Pam Palm.
An update was given on member Wilma Cambridge, who is recovering from a recent injury. Tammy Walton showed a quilt for which Preceptor Alpha chapter is selling raffle tickets. It was voted to make a donation to the James School.
A pound auction was held as a fundraiser and members all enjoyed the variety of items brought this year. Many Happy Dollars were shared and delicious refreshments were served.
The next meeting will be on Nov. 17, at the home of Jane Crouse.
Club raises funds for charity
On Oct. 20, Preceptor Alpha of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Darrylin Keenan, with Paula Flora serving as co hostess. Money from raffle tickets on the handcrafted quilt was collected. Members will continue to sell tickets through mid-November, with all proceeds going to local charities. Items will be brought in next month for Jane James to take to the Easton School Department’s Christmas Bazaar. Knick-knacks, accessories, books, wrapping paper and bows were suggested.
A schedule of meeting dates and refreshment details was finalized. Emily Knight also distributed the chapter contact page, and phone numbers and e-mail addresses were updated.
The next meeting will be held on 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the home of Sue Czosnek. Anne LaPlante will provide the mystery gift. Paula Flora, Sue Czosnek, Emily Knight and Bernice Belanger will provide refreshments.
UMPI presents Life Online
PRESQUE ISLE — Members of the Student Senate group at the University of Maine at Presque Isle will present Life Online on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Owls Nest.
The community is invited to attend and will learn about the serious issue of cyber bullying, how to recognize it and what to do about it.
