Carson Michaud, right, the 10-year-old son of Scott and Sharon Michaud, of Caribou was all smiles as he posed with the 596-pound bull moose he took down with one shot from a 7 mm-08 rifle at 6:50 a.m. on Nov. 8. The fifth-grader at Teague Park School, got his trophy 4-point moose, whose rack measured 26 inches, about 40 miles from Ashland, deep in the northern Maine woods. The young hunter, who turned 10 in May, was proud to be so successful in his first hunt. A sub-permitee with his dad Scott, Carson was also accompanied on the hunt by his grandfather Lewis Michaud.
