HAYNESVILLE — A 82-year-old Haynesville man was killed Friday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a parked car.
At 11 a.m. Friday, Roy Aldrich was driving north in his 2003 Ford sport utility vehicle on the Skagrock Road in Haynesville when he lost control, skidding off the road and into a driveway. Aldrich’s vehicle struck an unoccupied 2002 Ford pickup that was parked in a driveway.
That vehicle belonged to Timothy Doughty, 31, of Presque Isle. As a result of Aldrich’s vehicle striking Doughty’s vehicle, the pickup launched into the house and garage, which is owned by Amy and Everett Doughty of Haynesville.
Attempts were made to resuscitate Aldrich, but he died at the scene, according to police.
“The investigation is ongoing, but it is possible that Aldrich suffered a medical condition prior to the crash, causing him to veer off the road,” said Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and the Doughtys’ home received several thousand dollars in damage.
Trooper Chad Fuller investigated the accident. Maine State troopers Fred Thomas and Dan Deschaine, members of the Haynesville Fire Department and the DownEast Ambulance Service, assisted.
