UMPI men return from break with two losses
The University of Maine-Presque Isle men’s basketball team has dropped their first two games after the Christmas break.
On Monday on the road the Owls fell to SUNY Canton, 68-45.
It was only a three-point game at the half, 28-25, but after the break SUNY Canton upped their defensive pressure and held the Owls to only 20 second-half points.
UMPI’s record dips to 2-8.
The UMPI men ran into a buzzsaw on Thursday night in the form of Houghton College. The visiting Highlanders shot 54 percent from the floor, 58 percent from 3-point range, and 70 percent from the free throw line en route to a 73-49 victory.
Kyle Corrigan of Caribou was eight-for-eight at the charity stripe on his way to a team-leading 10 points on the night.
