The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department recently held a Ping Pong Tournament for all ages, in conjunction with the annual Winter Carnival events. In the 10-to 12-year-old division, the competition was very good and found 10-year-old Gabe Rand, right, surviving three matches in the double elimination final to face off against Bailey Griffeth, who sailed through the winner’s bracket with awesome left-handed play. In the end, Griffeth captured the title with Rand taking second place.

Josiah Krul, right, and Tre Caudell faced off in the finals of the 13-to 14-year-old Ping Pong Tournament sponsored by the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department, part of the city’s Winter Carnival activities. Caudell had lost in the first round and had to survive two additional matches to earn the right to face Krul in the finals. When the ball stopped bouncing, Krul had captured the title and Caudell, a well-earned second place.

Although it has been a while since there was a Ping Pong Tournament held as part of the Caribou Winter Carnival, this year, the bouncy white ball was back and the Wellness Center game room was packed with Ping Pong action for nearly three hours on Feb. 21. Winners and runner-ups in the adult division included Rudy Hoffert, left, longtime Ping Pong aficionado, who captured the title and runner-up Victor Nouhan, who survived three tough matches in the loser’s bracket to return to face Hoffert in the finals.
