AR Edmond LapointeAmerican Flag ColorEdmond Henry “Pit” Lapointe of Grand Falls died March 29, 2012, at the Falls Villa (Grand Falls Manor) after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born at Caribou, Maine in 1938, a son of the late Henry and Deline (Michaud) Lapointe.

He graduated from Presque Isle Community College and served in the US Army for five years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Caribou for several years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 15 in Caribou and a member of the Grand Falls Golden Age Club. He married Odette Michaud of Drummond in 1972 and was employed at Cary Medical Center, Caribou, Maine for 43 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Odette; two sisters, Shirley Gibbons of Huntsville, Alabama and Lorraine Barton (Wayne) of Sun City, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Jeannette and Judy as well as nieces and nephews. He also leaves his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Michaud Family, Roland (Claudette), Gilbert (Noëlla), Fernand (Huguette), Yvette Corbin (Eymard), Pierrette (late Arthur), Rose-Anne DiGiacinto (Pepi) and Martine Michaud (Alain Déry). He was predeceased by two brothers, Romain and Stanley Lapointe, brothers-in-law, Kenneth Gibbons, Rev. Napoléon Michaud and Arthur Michaud and sister-in-law, Berthe Lagacé, ommi.

His funeral service was held Monday, April 2nd at 2 p.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls with Father Pierre Thibodeau officiating. Interment was in the Assumption Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Grand Falls Manor Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.
