Steve Buck |
At the regularly scheduled Caribou City Council meeting held June 11, City Manager Steven Buck, tendered his resignation during executive session, effective on or after July 12, 2012. After discussion, the Council came out of executive session and accepted the resignation with regret.
July 1 of this year will mark Buck’s 11th year of service as Caribou’s city manager. It was with regret that the manager tendered his resignation but he cited the opportunity for new career advancement in municipal management.
Manager Buck stated that he is so proud of Caribou’s employees as in his opinion they rate among the highest in the state. Caribou employees are dedicated to their service and for providing cost effective and efficient service deliveries, he said. Buck further stated that that is was due to the talent and dedication of those same employees that has provided him the opportunity to succeed while in Caribou.
Buck also stated that the people of Caribou are some of the best he has ever met. He and his family have adopted Caribou as their hometown as he and Pam have raised both their daughters in Caribou. He will miss the business and personal relationships built during his years of service and hopes that these ties will remain as he moves to a new era in his career.
Buck has accepted the position of town manager in Sanford, and anticipates starting his new position as of Aug. 6.
The Caribou City Council will meet in the near future to determine a course of action toward filling the position of city manager. Manager Buck has offered to assist with the transition and stay connected throughout the process to ensure operational impacts are as low as possible.
