Hoskin, Elsie I., 94, November 11, 2011. Graveside service to be held on June 23, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
Elsie L. Grant Hoskin, 94, died Nov. 17, 2011 at Madigan Estates. She was born September 3, 1917, in Island Falls. She was the daughter of Edward Harris Grant and Eliza Isabel Grant of Crystal, Maine. In 1940, she married G. Robert (Bob) Hoskin (a postal mail carrier in Houlton for 33 years). Bob died on November 3, 1983.
Elsie worked for several years as a counter clerk and assistant to the pharmacist at the West End drugstore. Her next job was as the cashier at Dana’s Restaurant in Houlton, where she was also in charge of the selling of tickets and recordkeeping for the Bangor and Aroostook Bus line which stopped at the restaurant. She then worked as a teller for the Houlton Trust Company Bank for many years.
After her retirement from the Houlton Trust Company, she and Bob enjoyed travelling with their camping trailer, spending several winters in Florida.
She was a long time member of the Military Street Baptist Church.
Elsie loved to garden, knit, crochet, and play cards.
Elsie was predeceased by her son, George Edward Hoskin; her sisters, Freda Carson and Eva Kennedy, and her three brothers, Burns, Joseph and David Grant.
She is survived by her son, Royal Albert Hoskin, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Elizabeth of Hollis, Maine; two other grand-daughters, Joella Hoskin Anderson, her husband, Keith Anderson, and their two sons, Keith Grant Anderson, and Collin Edward Anderson of High Point, North Carolina, Kerry Elaine Goodman and her son, Spencer Daniel Goodman, and daughter, Lauren Joella Goodman of Linden, Michigan; a brother-in-law, John Hoskin and his wife, Mary, of Gorham, Maine; nieces and their husbands, Gayle and Alan Boone of Bangor, Marion and Don Burton of California and Mattawamkeag, Joanne and Harvey Goldstein of Florida and many other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery (north side), 163 Smyrna St., in Houlton on June 23, 2012 at 10:30. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Randall Burns. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made at TD Bank to the G. Robert Hoskin Memorial Fund, for the benefit of the Boy Scouts of America.
