Two motorcyclists escaped serious injury when their bikes collided while the riders were traveling June 17 along Route 161 in T16 R4.
“On June 17 at approximately 4:15 p.m. Trooper Todd Stetson responded to a crash involving two motorcycles on Route 161. Carl Bouchey, 61, of Washburn, was operating his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound and riding with him was William Burgess, 63, of Fort Fairfield, on his 2007 Triumph,” said Sgt. Brian Harris, Maine State Police.
According to Harris, Burgess was leading when the accident occurred.
“Burgess had slowed and was attempting to make a left-hand turn into a rest area. Bouchy did not immediately notice Burgess was turning. When he did, he attempted to brake and turn his motorcycle. Bouchy could not avoid Burgess and collided with him,” explained Harris.
Bouchy sustained several abrasions and complained of pain. Burgess sustained an injury to his leg.
“Both were transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Neither subject was wearing a helmet and both motorcycles sustained significant damage in the crash and were towed from the scene,” said Harris.
No charges were filed in connection with the accident.
