Motorcycle event to benefit County children

    The Northern Aroostook County Marine Corps Reserve Motorcycle Ride is holding their first annual Toys for Tots Ride on Sunday, Sept. 2.
    The 169-mile ride will start at the Madawaska American Legion at 9 a.m. and travel through the following towns: Frenchville, Fort Kent, Eagle Lake, Portage Lake, stopping for lunch at the Aroostook Fish & Game Club in Ashland, then traveling through Mapleton, Presque Isle, Westfield, Easton, stopping at Boondocks in Fort Fairfield, then traveling through Limestone, Van Buren, with the final destination of 1327 Main St. in Grand Isle.
    Activities for the night include: a pig roast, live music and overnight camping, all for $10.
    On Monday, Sept. 3, participants will depart Grand Isle for a short trip of 59 miles by traveling around Long Lake to Cross Lake and ending up at the Bicentennial Park in Madawaska to join the festivities. Raffle tickets will be drawn for the 2012 883 Sportster, and cash prizes of $300 and $150.
    Toys and/or cash donations will be picked up at each stop: Madawaska American Legion, Frenchville American Legion, Fort Kent American Legion. Eagle Lake American Legion, Dean’s Restaurant in Portage Lake, Aroostook Fish & Game in Ashland, Westfield, Country Farms Market in Easton, Boondocks Restaurant in Fort Fairfield, Limestone Fire Department, Hospitality Inn in Van Buren and at the Grand Isle site of the event at 1327 Main St.
