Residents enjoy long weekend, warm temperatures

The Labor Day long weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. The weather for all three days was perfect for people to get out and about in Caribou.

Charlie and Belinda McLaughlin, of Caribou, make a quick stop at Burger Boy for one final treat on the restaurant’s last open day of the season. The 1941 Chevrolet pickup was restored by Charlie. The couple were returning from a weekend at camp.

The plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Presque Isle air base on Nov. 22, 1942, killing all seven crew members aboard. The area containing the wreckage has been named a national historical site.
