HOULTON, Maine — A 30-year-old Houlton man suffered serious injuries Saturday when his ATV crashed behind Theriault Equipment on the North Road.

According to Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service, Jeremy Young, 30, was operating a 2009 Polaris Sportsman ATV in the parking lot of the John Deere dealership when the incident took place. Young suffered serious, undisclosed, injuries and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was not wearing a helmet.

“It was raining and the pavement was wet where the incident took place,” MacDonald said. There were no witnesses to the crash. Warden Kevin Pelkey stated that one contributing factor appears to be speed. The case remains under investigation.
