ELLIS, Lloyd F., 81, CASTLE HILL, September 10, 2012. Arrangements are in the care of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, Ashland.

CASTLE HILL American Flag ColorLloyd F. Ellis, 81, died Sept. 10, 2012, at his daughter’s residence in Presque Isle. He was born in Castle Hill, June 26, 1931, the son of Fred and Carrie (Springer) Ellis.
    Lloyd graduated from Mapleton High School in 1950 and married Betty Bragdon on June 7, 1952. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from August 1952 to August 1954. He worked for the Mapleton School Department as a bus driver and custodian until Mapleton merged with SAD # 1 in Presque Isle. He continued to work there as a bus driver and mechanic until he became physically disabled and retired.
    Lloyd was a member of the Castle Hill Grange and was civil defense director for Castle Hill. He was a member of the American Legion Post 208 of Masardis. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling, and going to “blueberry country” with his family every August.
    He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Bragdon) Ellis of Castle Hill; three daughters, Carolyn Joy Nichols and husband, Daniel of Mapleton, Jane Marie Beaudoin, R.N. and husband, Roger of Visalia, Calif., and Karla Jean Whittaker, R.N., and husband, Elmer of Presque Isle; four sisters, Eleanor Putnam, Edwina Lovely, Bernice Campbell, and Norma Smith; two brothers, Floyd and Sheldon Ellis; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He and his wife also raised his niece, Sheri Lynn (Putnam) Weaver of Presque Isle.
    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Thurston Lloyd Ellis in 1989; a daughter, Sharlene Joyce Carmichael Riley in 2002; a brother, Eugene Ellis; and a sister, Marilyn Churchill.
    Relatives and friends called at the Advent Christian Church, Exchange St., Ashland, from noon to 2 p.m., on Friday. A funeral service was held on Sept. 14, 2012, at the Advent Christian Church, Ashland, with Rev. Lucy Lovely officiating. Committal service and military honors were at the Ellis-Trafton Cemetery, Ashland. Funeral arrangements are a service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.
