Denonville, Doreen R., 86, March 2, 2013.  Spring interment to be held in the Hodgdon Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.

HOULTON – Doreen Rayner Stewart Denonville, 86, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on March 2, 2013. She was born on October 28, 1926, in Leeds, England, the only child of Frank and Laura Rayner.
As a new war bride coming to the U.S. at the age of 18, she embraced being a serviceman’s wife and became a U.S. citizen; however, she never lost her English accent nor her love for her native England. She traveled faithfully with her husband Gene as he served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years.
Upon retirement from the services, Doreen and Gene owned and operated Stewart’s Market on the Calais Road in Hodgdon for many years and were also the co-owners of Hilltop Lanes on the Calais Road in Hodgdon for several years, being one of the three couples that built Hilltop Lanes.
She also served many years as a member of Rebekah’s of Houlton which followed the values learned from the stories of women in the Old Testament including Rebekah (affection), Ester (patriotism), Sarah (faith), Deborah (courage), and Miriam (zeal and devotion).
Doreen and Gene spent many happy years together, enjoying playing cards with friends, ballroom dancing, and bowling, with many bowling trophies between them as a testament to their skills.
Doreen was employed as a sales associate at J.C. Penny Co. in Houlton where she was affectionately known by her co-workers as ‘Ms. Bling’ which reflected her love of wearing bright colored clothing and lots of jewelry. Doreen enjoyed regular card games with her many card-playing friend in her later years. Doreen attended and was a member of the Houlton Wesleyan Church.
Doreen is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Carole and Kenny Wilson, Laureen and Steve Bither, and Janene and Rob Moran; step-daughter, Betsy Denonville and her friend, Susan Dorion, six grandchildren and their spouses, Kirk and Sheryl Wilson, Jodie and Steve Ward, Kendra and Ritchie Lynds, Courtney and BJ Barton, Stewart Kennedy and fiancée, Dakota Brocato, and Aaron Bither; step-granddaughter, Jill Moran; ten great-grandchildren, Ben, Brandon, and Elizabeth Ward, Kendrick and Martha Wilson, Konnor and Addyson Lynds, Breanne, Brandon, and Marissa Barton; a special sister-in-law, Madeline Stewart; and several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Eugene Stewart in 1972, and her second husband, Raymond Denonville in 1996, as well as her great-grandson, Taylor Wilson Lynds in 2005.
Funeral services were held Tues. March 5, 2013, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating. Spring internment will be at the Hodgdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Doreen’s memorial fund to provide assistance to local individuals for health related expenses, c/o Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park Street Houlton, 04730
