CARIBOU – Richard Murphy, 59, died unexpectedly April 26, 2013, at a Caribou hospital. He was born in Fort Fairfield on August 26, 1953, the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Burbee Gray) Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was employed by the Maine Military Authority. He married Leola Chamberland October 22, 1977. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Leola of Caribou, are three sons, Russell Chamberland Murphy of Stockholm, Richard Murphy Jr. of Gray, and Toby Lagassey Murphy of Richwood, West Virginia; two brothers, Joseph Murphy Jr. of Ashland, and Robert Murphy of Auburn; two sisters, Judy Schwenbaur of New York and Beatrice Bartucca of Fort Fairfield; six grand-children, Desarae and Devon Chamberland, Trinity and Zachary Murphy and Austin and Joshua Lagassey; several nieces and nephews.
Friends visited with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 1 p.m. Monday April 29, 2013 until time of services, which was held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mark Babin officiating.
