SHERMAN – Everett J. McAvoy, 76, passed away Aug. 24, 2013, peacefully at Cummings Health Care where he was a resident for five years. He was born April 24, 1937, in Sherman Mills, the son of Everett and Ellen (Qualey) McAvoy. Eb was a very special person and a well-loved resident of the Benedicta community. He was the grounds keeper for St. Benedict’s Parish for 23 years and also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his loving and faithful sister, Anne, who cared for him for 43 years; sisters, Mary, Lucy and Esther; and his brothers, Michael and Martin. He was predeceased by his parents; three sibilings; and his dear friend, Jim. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Aug. 30, at St. Benedict’s, Benedicta. Those who wish may make a donation in Eb’s memory to a special fund to be used for a memorial in remembrance of Eb’s dedicated and faithful services as grounds keeper for St. Benedict’s Parish.
