A group of about 90 members of the Maine Maple Sugar Producers toured several Aroostook County sugar houses recently. This was the first time to visit any northern Maine locations for many of them. After being in the Sherman, Smyrna and Hodgdon area, members made their way to Bridgewater, Easton and West Chapman.
The group stopped by the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton for lunch and a tour. Several museum volunteers shared information about the museum and how it has grown in the last 12 years.  Following lunch they spent about an hour viewing the many displays.
The Shiretown Inn & Suites hosted the three-day event. The group enjoyed a banquet, a trade show and attended technical sessions at Houlton’s Higher Education Center.
The museum will begin their summer tour schedule on Thursday, June 26 from 1 p.m. until 4. They will also be open on Fridays and Saturdays during those same hours except for Friday, July 4th the museum will be closed.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Private tours can be scheduled by calling 538-0050 or 694-6099. The museum is located 10 miles north of Houlton on U.S. Highway One just south of Westerdahl’s Garage.
