This event is always fun and a chance to catch up on former classmates and their doings. Joanne Jenkins Wood and husband Ed, arrived recently from their home in Wilton, N.H. to spend a few days at their cottage on Upper Mattawamkeag Lake, where they plan to enjoy kayaking and visiting their aunt Riva.
I have really been busy lately putting out sunflower seeds as a lot of my small-feathered friends have been around lately looking for their dinner. Have the gold finch, purple finch, swallows galore, and just two small woodpeckers that sometimes will eat a sunflower seed or two from the feeders. Hadn’t seen any gray squirrels around to disrupt any thing until Friday, when two of them appeared and polished off what was left in the feeders then they proceeded to make a day of it and began chasing each other all over my front lawn.
I have seen a quick glimpse of the woodchuck that keeps a den under my front steps and I some times toss out crusts of bread on to my steps and that is gone before too long. I still see the deer once in awhile way down back by the woods, but not up close to the house. I imagine it is cooler for them in the woods.
