Organizers are really excited about the upcoming Pie-A-Poloosa event at the Northern Maine Fair. The annual pie-baking contest takes place in the Agricultural Exhibit Hall.
This is the year to show your baking skills regardless of if you have participated in the past or not. Go to www.northernmainefair.com or call 764-0998 for rules, prizes and event information. Free fair admission is given to one competitor with each cooking contest entry.
The contests are sponsored by King Arthur Flour and wonderful prizes for all five contests are offered. In addition to the King Arthur sponsorship, the Wild Maine Blueberry Commission is sponsoring the blueberry pie contest on Saturday, Aug. 2. Local sponsors are: Academy Place Hair Salon for the parent/child cookie contest on July 28, Second Hand Rose for the raspberry pie contest on July 29, McElwain Strawberries for the strawberry pie contest on July 30, Stewart’s Farm for the apple pie contest on July 31, and Governor’s Restaurant for the “pie in the sky” contest on Aug. 1.
