    Saturday, July 26, will see the Freddy Clark Family in a Gospel Concert at 4 and 6 p.m.    Make plans now to bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this special event!

 Westfield Days

    This year’s Westfield Jubilee will take place on Aug. 22-24. A new committee has been formed, with some new ideas for activities for this old-fashioned weekend. The committee is headed up by Tammy Carson, who can be reached at 429-1015. Any vendors, entertainers or operators that have been involved in the past, or would like to participate this year, are asked to contact Tammy. Anyone that would like to be part of the planning committee is also asked to contact Tammy.

Aroostook Health Center

    Upcoming events for the week of July 23-29 include: Wednesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Wii Bowling at 9 a.m., Table Tennis at 10 a.m. and Crossword Puzzles at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and Old Fashioned Revival Center at 6:30 p.m. Friday will feature Bingo Bucks at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Larry and Larry at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature Karaoke with the Deschesnes at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will feature the Mennonite Hymnsing at 6:30 p.m. Monday will feature Nail Beautiful a 9:30 a.m., Patio Social at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m.,  Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.

Rotary Club

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on July 15 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. Rotarian Ed Wright spoke about the Rotary Foundation and the fact that it is the number two humanitarian aid organization in the world. It does its work through matching grants with various Rotary clubs worldwide.
There are six areas of focus: provide clean water, promote peace, fight disease, support mothers and children, promote education and grow local economies. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio and is close. Less than 300 cases were diagnosed last year.

Homecoming 2014

    Plans for Homecoming 2014 are under way. This year’s events will be held on Aug. 8-10. Friday’s plans include the Rotary Car Hop, Music, Bingo, Teen Dance and more. Following the 10 a.m. parade on Saturday, plans include various activities at the high school in the afternoon; the committee is looking for crafters and more to set up booths with crafts, foods, etc. Several new events and activities have been added this year. The Mars Hill Fire Department will hold a mini muster and will be doing the chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday. Sunday will include road races and a gospel concert. Flyers will be available at various places around town.
NOTE: There will be an Outdoor Variety Show on Saturday night at Central Aroostook High School from 7-8:15 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate is asked to call Dave Collins at the Mars Hill Rec at 429-8429 to sign up.

Library fundraiser

    Thanks to the success of the Tag Sale weekends,  a decision was made to run the sale again on the weekend of Homecoming. If anyone would like to donate more items, call the library at 429-9625.
