Little League season wraps up

    MAPLETON, Maine — The Mapleton Little League’s regular season concludes this week, with the playoff semifinal games set for Monday and Tuesday and the championship to be played Thursday, July 31. All the games get under way at 6 p.m.
Summaries of games from last week are as follows:
On July 14, Buck Farms defeated Perley’s 18-4 in a game called after four innings. Ian Michaud pitched three innings, with Tyson Nason and Ricky Goupille splitting mound duties in the final inning.
Nate Willett tripled and Goupille, Chase Guerrette, Clay Gregg and Gunnar Carter each had singles for Buck Farms.
Last Tuesday, Buck Construction blanked Perley’s, 12-0 as Mitchell Dumais garnered the pitching victory and Colby Buckley spearheaded the offense with two home runs, one coming with the bases loaded, and a triple.
Buck Farms stopped Doyen’s last Wednesday, 5-3, as Goupille pitched five strong innings for Buck Farms, giving up six hits and two runs while striking out six and walking only one batter.
Michaud came on in relief in the sixth and allowed one run on two hits and struck out two batters. Willett, the team’s catcher, had a pair of hits and scored two runs. Michaud had a hit and also scored.
For Doyen’s, Connor DeMerchant pitched a strong game, but was the hard-luck loser. Quinn DeMerchant went 2 for 3 and scored a run, Zack Fletcher went 3 for 3 with three doubles and scored twice and drove in another, and Connor DeMerchant had two doubles and two RBIs.
Buck Construction nipped Doyen’s Thursday, 6-5, behind the pitching and hitting of Chance Bragan, who notched the win on the mound and also had a double and a single. Buckley contributed a pair of doubles at the plate.
Fletcher took the pitching loss, but paced the offense with two hits, including a homer. He also drove in three runs. Anna Trombley and Sam Beaulieu each had a hit and scored.
