Jim’s: Affordable transportation
Whether you’re a student heading off to college, a young couple just starting out, busy parent or retired senior, Jim’s Automotive has economical solutions to your transportation needs.
“People from all walks of life need vehicles for under $5,000 — students, parents or just someone looking to add an extra car for their family for whatever reason. This could include in winter, to save their ‘good car.’ Or it may be because they need cheaper transportation,” said owner Jim Burrill, who works from home at 557 Griffin Ridge Rd., Mapleton.
“I love working from home. It’s like farming in The County; we’re all accustomed to it,” he said.
Burrill brings four decades of experience to the automotive business.
“This is my 40th year. I’ve been in Mapleton for 11 years. Each year I’m selling more cars than the year before,” Burrill said.
Burrill serves customers from Limestone to Houlton.
“I buy vehicles from several local dealers, as well as private sales. I outsource mechanical work locally to two or three garages and one body shop,” he said.
In addition to Burrill, the business employs three people.
“Michaela Morneault handles all of my office work and helps out with sales. Bryan Ouellette helps with the detailing, and I have part-time help when needed,” he said.
There’s always several vehicles on the lot to choose from, according to Burrill.
“I have seven to 20 units at any given time, so come to Griffin Ridge for your next refurbished used vehicle,” said Burrill.
Each vehicle is carefully checked and repairs made before they’re ever put up for sale.
“I go over these units from front to rear, replacing the things that have or may go wrong. They are fully serviced and cleaned, then priced to sell quickly,” Burrill said.
Burrill goes beyond the average car dealer, even making ‘house calls.’
“Many times I’ve received calls and taken the vehicle to show a prospective customer at home,” noted Burrill.
Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, with Saturday hours available.
