Products for quality crops
Currie Chemical Company, Inc., located at 160 Airport Drive in Presque Isle, has a long history of serving the agricultural community of northern Maine, with owner G. Noel Currie III being the third generation to run the business, which specializes in providing agriculture products to farmers of The County.
“We provide fertilizer, plant and soil amendments. We provide organic fertilizer, liquid plant nutrients, ozone generators for aquaculture and waste water,” said Currie.
The business got its start 24 years ago.
“Noel Currie started this business in 1990. We now have four full-time and two part-time employees,” said Currie, noting that the business’s success is based on, “perseverance, persistence and diversification.”
Currie said pleasing the customer is a priority.
“Customer service is extremely important to our business because we work hard to keep a great clientele/company relationship; we make sure to go out of our way to keep our customers satisfied with our services and products,” Currie said.
He said times have changed and it’s important for farmers to keep up with technology. His company strives to provide the most up-to-date techniques and products to ensure customers continue to produce quality crops.
“We now promote the use of ozone gas in the storage of potatoes. Ozone is a gas that kills fungi and bacteria naturally, breaking it down to oxygen. This state-of-the-art treatment of potato storage allows you to store potatoes without having any chemicals sprayed onto the potatoes themselves,” said Currie.
“Ozone has been used here and across the country for years but with improvements in technology, we can help store healthy potatoes longer with fewer chemicals cheaper than ever before,” Currie said.
Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
