Furniture & Floors North celebrates 26 years

In 1988, with 15 years of retail furniture experience already in his pocket, Joe Fitzpatrick, along with his wife Linda, turned a dream into a reality. Furniture & Floors North opened its doors in Houlton.
Now with 26 years of successful business ownership, Joe has decided it’s time to cut back on work time and spend a little more time just enjoying life in general … with his bride of course!
This year, Joe has turned over the day-to-day operations of Furniture & Floors North to his daughter, Kelley, who has been working with her Dad for 20 years. Kelley has a great handle on continuing to see the family business succeed and grow.
“My Dad has always been my mentor,” said Kelley. “I learn something from him almost every day. Even though my focus is very much administrative, I do keep a trusting eye on our team. Although I am not too involved on the sales floor, my eyes and ears are always open so that I have a handle on what is going on in that world.”
The Furniture & Floors North sales team includes Garth Bean and Jordan Shaw. Joe is now a part-timer and as Kelley said jokingly, “It is a now you see me, now you don’t” and “if he’s not here, it’s probably because he’s somewhere else” type of arrangement.
The Furniture & Floors salesmen are very customer-oriented and very knowledgeable about all of the product offerings, which includes all types of floor coverings, mattresses and home furnishings from clocks and dining sets to living rooms and grand bedroom collections.
“We aim for smooth sailing and perfection with every sale, but the reality is that we live in an imperfect world and once in a while, we find ourselves needing to do some troubleshooting,” Kelley explained. “Garth and Jordan are very good at that.”
Rounding out the Furniture & Floors North team is Wade Goetsch, who is the company maintenance and delivery guy, as well as “Mr. Fix-it.”
In addition to teamwork, it also takes loyal customers to succeed.
“We have the best customers,” said Kelley. “That is why Furniture & Floors North is still here. Thank you for your patronage. If you have not been in to see us for a while, don’t be shy … come visit.” Furniture & Floors North is located on the Access Road just down the road from York’s of Houlton. It’s worth the visit every time.
