HOULTON, Maine — After suffering a tough loss to Old Town-Orono on Saturday, the Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin Black Hawks got back on the winning track Monday against Winslow.

At Kents Hill against Winslow, the Black Hawks won 3-1. Brandon Dunn, Garret Perkins and Josh Malone scored goals for the Black Hawks, while AJ Henderson and Drew Marino notched assists.

Ian Neureuther was in net for the Black Hawks and stopped 14 of 15 shots. The Black Hawks had 35 shots on net.

At Alfond Saturday, the home squad had a tough night on the ice, falling 10-1.

“This was a big loss for the kids against a tough Old Town-Orono squad,” coach Tony Marino said. “However, the 10-1 score does not paint the picture accurately.”

Down 2-1 in the first period, the Black Hawks had a goal go in and out of the net that was not called by the officials, the coach said.

OT-O’s third goal of the first was also questionable as the Black Hawks felt the opposition was offsides. “This put OT-O up 3-1 when it should have been 2-2,” the coach said. “Tough luck for sure.”

The floodgates opened in the third period as OT-O scored seven unanswered goals.

Malone scored the lone Black Hawk goal. Nate Lilley was in net for the first two periods, making 17 saves on 22 shots. Ian Neureuther took over in the third period and had 20 shots on net with 15 saves.

The Black Hawks had 17 shots on net.
