Washburn’s Worcester gains prestigious honor

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —  Husson University sophomore guard Kenzie Worcester has been named to the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll, making it the first time this season an Eagle player has claimed this honor.

Worcester is a 2015 graduate of Washburn District High School and was a member of four Class D state championship teams and a 2,000-point career scorer with the Beavers.
Last week, she averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game as Husson won three in a row and set a program record with 18 straight home victories.
In an 87-37 win over Thomas, the sophomore netted a career-high 24 points while connecting on 8-of-10 field goals. Contributing to the 70-46 win against Johnson State, Worcester hit all of her free throws and grabbed nine rebounds. Finishing off the week playing Lyndon State, the guard added 10 points to the the Eagles 80-49 win.
She is the daughter of Larry and Kim Worcester of Washburn.
