MARS HILL, Maine — Heather Bradbury has been coaching at the junior high level on and off for the past 25 years and has taught third grade at Fort Street Elementary School for the past 20.

She’s adding a new responsibility after recently being hired as SAD 42’s athletic director.

The Central Aroostook High School alumna admits she is still figuring out how to balance everything, but is excited about her new role.

“Having always been a Panther, I have a passion for athletics here and want to see the kids do well and have every opportunity available to them,” said Bradbury, who has four children in the system who are all active in sports.

She said the AD position will add a lot to her already full plate, but she is working on managing her time.

“It’s a lot of communication … answering e-mails and text messages,” Bradbury said. “So far everyone has been very patient when I’ve told them I’m a teacher first and can’t be interrupted during academic time. They know they may have to wait until lunch or after school for a response.”

The first hire under Bradbury’s watch was the boys’ varsity soccer coaching position, which went to Wallace Endy. He is a coaching veteran at SAD 42, having previously served in the position while most recently coaching the junior high boys’ team.
