Rotary hears lacrosse plan

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, April 18, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.

The special speaker was Ken Ervin of Houlton, who spoke about starting up a lacrosse league in the area.  He currently has 17 girls and 16 boys, grades 3-6, from Mars Hill to Smyrna attending weekly clinics and practices.

He has applied and received three grants for equipment, which belongs to the club.  Players do supply their own shoes with cleats like worn for soccer.  He is currently raising funds for uniforms for the teams — the Northern Maine Moose.
