From the Bunkers – week of May 24, 2017

We finally got decent weather and lots of wind to help dry out the course. The other good news is that power carts were allowed out on the course on Friday. Instructions for where to drive were posted in course carts and the list was given to members with their own carts. It is important to follow these directions in order to protect our fairways.

The greens are in excellent shape and all fairways have been mowed. Grab your clubs and come out and enjoy some great spring golfing. While you are at the course, come in and sign up your team for the Monday night Men’s league. There are a limited number of slots left and we need have all in by the end of the month.

The Memorial tournament will be held on Saturday, June 3, starting at 10 a.m. It will be a scramble format and all members and friends are encouraged to play.  Proceeds from the event go to the Beautification Committee to buy flowers and mulch any additional outside labor that may be needed to complete the jobs.  Sign up or call the club at 532.2662 as soon as you can. Let’s make this a banner year.

The Golf for Life program is in full swing with over 50 new golfers learning this healthy sport.  David Grant is giving weekly lessons in the basics of the game, and it’s all free of charge.

The Junior golf clinics will begin at the end of June after school is out. Give the pro shop a call for more info and to enroll your students. The Lakeside Restaurant is now open Wednesday thru Sunday Brunch for lunch and dinner. Call Nancy at 694-9494 to reserve your table.

Houlton Community Golf Course is located on 6 Country Club Drive in New Limerick. For more information on the course call 532-2662 or email houltongolf@gmail.com
