MDOT closes one lane of Parsons Road

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine Department of Transportation has reduced a 1,000-foot segment of the Parsons Road to alternating one way traffic. The segment is located approximately 1.4 miles north of the junction of Route 163 and Parsons Road.

According to Ted Talbot, MDOT press secretary, the reduction to one-lane traffic is due to a potential rotational slope failure, which is isolated to the northbound lane. Crews will work to restore temporary two-way traffic outside of the slope failure area in the coming weeks.

A future permanent lane relocation project is being developed for construction and is anticipated to occur in early 2018.

“While we understand the inconvenience this may cause, this is the best way to ensure the safety of the travelling public,” Talbot said in a press release.
