MAPLETON: Mapleton Daze Bike Rodeo. 6-7:30 p.m. at Mapleton Elementary School. Kids receive instruction in bicycle safety, technique, on/off road riding, proper helmet wear, and will practice new skills on a special rider course. Sponsored by Bike, Board and Ski. FORT FAIRFIELD: Fort Fairfield Public Library Science Sessions: Our Blue Planet. 11 a.m.-noon at FF Public Library, 339 Main St. Kickstart summer with a look at all things water. Explore Cornerstones of Science’s Water Trunk; look at water cycle, frogs of Maine, breathing underwater, more. Ages 6-14. Cost: free. Pre-registration required. MAPLETON: Mapleton Daze Breakfast With a View. 7 a.m. at Haystack Mountain Trailhead, located about 4 miles west of Mapleton or about 10 miles east of Ashland on Route 163. HOULTON: Strides 2 Strengthen 5K Fun Run/Walk and Kids’ Run. 8 a.m. at Millar Civic Center, 94 Randall Street. Family-focused event with positive parenting messages posted along the route to promote strengthening healthy families, child abuse/neglect prevention. Donations accepted.
