Strawberry Festival returns to Stacyville|

STACYVILLE, Maine — The schedule for the 17th annual Strawberry Festival features three fun-filled days of activities.

Beginning Friday, July 7, and continuing through Sunday, July 9, the Strawberry Festival will be held at the VFW Post/Wheeler Club, Rte. 11 in Stacyville, sponsored by the Katahdin Valley Wheelers.  

The schedule for the festival is as follows:

Friday, July 7

Photo Contest — Enter photos until Sunday. Judging will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

5-6 p.m. or until gone — Pork loin supper with corn on the cob and baked potato. Cost is by donation.

6 p.m. — $250 raffle drawing.

6 p.m. — Cribbage tournament.

Saturday, July 8

9 a.m.-3 p.m. — Flea market/yard sale/vendors. Free space to set up your table and/or canopy on lawn.  Call 365-4307 or 365-4832.

11 a.m. Parade. Everyone is invited with floats, bikes.

11 a.m.-3 p.m.— Hot dogs

11:30 a.m. — Auction.

5-6 p.m. or until gone — Ham and bean supper with strawberry shortcake. Cost is by donation.

6 p.m. — $250 Raffle drawing.

Sunday,  July 9

9 a.m. — Horseshoe tournament. $10 entry fee. Two classes.  Pick of the draw.  Cash prizes given.

11 a.m.-3 p.m. — Yard sale (if necessary, with items from auction there was not time to display)

11 a.m.-3 p.m. — Hot dogs.

1 p.m. — Submit entry for kids’ cupcake contest. (Judging at 3 p.m.)

2-5 p.m. — Live music/open mic (call 365-4307 to participate.  Must provide your own sound system)

3:30 p.m. — Photo contest judging.

5-6 p.m. (or until gone) — Chicken barbecue, cost by donation.

6 p.m. — $250 raffle drawing.

Photo contest rules are as follows:

– Photos can be any size in black and white or color. No minimum.

– Can submit photos anytime between Friday and Sunday. The sooner you bring them, the more people who will see them and vote!  Photos will be judged by People’s Choice by secret ballot.

– Photos must be in a standing frame or on your own sturdy photo display stand.  We will not provide stands.

– Your name and photo category must be written on back of photos.

– Amateur photographers only.

– Must pick up your own photos.  We will not return them to you.

Category Themes: “Best Cat or Dog” or “Country Kids” A $10 prize will be awarded for first place in each category.

Children’s cupcake contest rules:

– For ages 16 and under.

– At least 12 cupcakes must be registered no later than 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 9. Judging will be at 3 p.m.

– Any flavor. Cupcakes will be judged on presentation only.

– Cupcakes become property of Wheeler Club.

A prize of $10 will be awarded for first place.
