‘Our Library Rocks’ sends public on a hunt

A special happening in Mars Hill is “Our Library Rocks.”  Colorfully painted rocks are hidden around town for others to find.  Once they find one, the finder can post a picture on the library’s website or on Facebook and then take the rock to hide somewhere else. Happy hunting.

Regular happenings include Toddler Time on Tuesdays at 10.  The library is also open for a Craft Club on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Bring your favorite cross stitch piece, knitting, crocheting or other craft to work on in the company of others.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.

Rotarian Ray Jones gave his classification.  He and his family moved to Mars Hill from Canada when he was 16.  After serving in the Army in Germany, he trained at a Massachusetts trade shop and then began working with his brother in the heating oil business.

He shared memories of swimming in the pond in the summer and skating in the winter.  He also got his pilot’s license in 1975 and enjoyed many years of flying his own plane.

He has been a member of the American Legion for 50 years and a Rotarian for 49 years.  He served on the board of directors for the Aroostook County Action Program as well as People’s Bank.  He has also helped many folks in the community; as he said, the community has been very good to him over the years.

Cheer Clinic
