Due to the rainy weather, the only match played Wednesday, Sept. 6, was on the turf field at the Johnson Athletic Complex in Presque Isle and the Wildcats were able to come up with a 3-1 victory over Fort Kent.

It was the first home match of the season for the Presque Isle girls. The Wildcats scored three first-half goals, two by Madison Michaud and the other by Eleanor St. Peter, while limiting Fort Kent to a second-half goal by freshman Gabby Martin.

Clara Kohlbacher and Paige McHatten had assists for PI and goalkeeper Savannah Rodriguez saved nine of 10 shots for PI, now 2-0. Desirae Hafford assisted on Martin’s goal and FK goalkeeper Lyndsay Ouellette collected 15 saves while facing 18 shots. The Warriors are now 2-2.

In the only soccer match scheduled for today, the Presque Isle boys will host Fort Kent at 7 p.m.

MSSM was supposed to open regular season play this afternoon with home matches against Wisdom in Limestone, but the wet fields have led to their postponement, according to MSSM athletic director Sarah Stackhouse.

Wednesday’s scheduled matches between Katahdin and Washburn that were postponed now have a makeup date, according to Ron Ericson, athletic director at WDHS. They now will be played at the Johnson Athletic Complex in Presque Isle on Monday, Sept. 25. The boys game is at 6 p.m. and the girls follow at 7:30 p.m.

In golf, Carlisle was scheduled to make the trip to Enfield’s Barnes Brook Golf Course, but that match will now be held Friday, Sept. 8. Carlisle (3-4) will take on PVHS, Foxcroft and Sumner in a 4 p.m. match.
