Two of the best girls’ soccer teams in Class B North square off Tuesday when Presque Isle takes the short trip north on U.S. Route 1 to meet up against Caribou at 7 p.m. at CHS.

Presque Isle enters with a 3-0 record, including shutout wins over John Bapst and MCI, while the Vikings have outscored opponents by a 34-3 margin en route to their 4-0 mark.

Both teams boast high scoring forwards. Maddie Michaud, a junior for the Wildcats, has eight of her team’s nine goals this season and 60 for her career. Searra Herbert, a senior, leads the Vikings with nine goals after scoring 23 a season ago.

The Wildcats won all three of last year’s matchups. Both regular season matchups were by 2-1 scores, while PI also won the playoff quarterfinal, 4-1.

PI coach Ralph Michaud knows his team will be challenged by the high-scoring Caribou squad.

“They are a very, very talented team,” Michaud said. “They attack well from all positions, are very skilled and keep constant pressure on a team’s defense.”

Viking coach Todd Albert said his team will need to play as a team, work hard and simply play “good soccer” to have a chance against the Wildcats.

In other matches Tuesday, the Ashland girls take a 6-0 record into their game at Fort Fairfield. The game is at 4 p.m. and the boys’ teams from the two schools will play at the same time.  Van Buren boys and girls play at Southern Aroostook at 3:30 p.m. and the Houlton boys host Orono at 4 p.m.
