Captain Albert H. ‘Bud’ McKenney

CAPTAIN ALBERT H. ‘BUD’ MCKENNEY, MOUNT CHASE – Captain Albert H. ‘Bud’ McKenney, 92, died October 21, 2017, at his home. He was born June 19, 1925, in Harwich, MA, the son of Albert McKenney of Mt. Chase and Addie (Kennedy) McKenney of Moro.
Bud was a carpenter and a self-taught charter fisherman with his boat, The Wanderer, out of Wychemere Harbor of Harwich Port, MA. He was a popular captain, bringing in record fish and happy fisherman. One favorite fisherman was Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox. He skippered in many swordfish tournaments and caught tuna and marlin. He chartered in Stuart, FL, and the Bahamas, even traveling to Panama to catch black marlin.
Bud always had a positive outlook. He loved life and lived it well. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his family members, Wallis M. Drew of Mt. Chase, Wanda L. Wallen of Southport, FL, William A. McKenney of Sumner and St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife, Sally Gilman (Doble) McKenney in 1996. She has been greatly missed.
