Local soccer players make regional all-star teams

The Maine Soccer Coaches’ regional all-star teams have been announced, with several players from Aroostook making it on either the Class B, C or D North squad.

Seniors named to the team are invited to play in the MSC Senior Bowl, which will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at Husson University in Bangor. The girls’ game is at noon and the boys’ game at 2:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Making the Class B girls’ team were Savannah Rodriguez and Madison Michaud, both of Presque Isle; and Hope Shea and Searra Herbert, both of Caribou. They are joined by Cassie Brown, Emily Lord and Maria Low, all of Brewer; Kayla Hubbard and Lauren Wood, both of Erskine; Alex Allain of Hermon, Sydney Morton of Maine Central Institute, Daisy Granholm of Mount Desert Island, Elise Brown of Mount View, Meaghan Bernard of Winslow and Anika Elias, Mackenzie St. Pierre and Rebecca Beringer, all of Waterville.

The Class C North team is represented by four members of the state champion Houlton Shiretowners. They are Kolleen Bouchard, Aspen Flewelling, Tyra Gentle and Mia Hanning. Others on the elite team are Sydney Allen and Grace Francis, both of Central High School in Corinth; Danielle Cummings and Hannah Dorman, both of Dexter; Becca Gallant and Brooklynne White, both of Orono; Cymeria Robshaw and Camryn Rolfe, both of Penquis; Bess MacArthur of George Stevens Academy and Erin Speed of Piscataquis.

Girls from the region selected to the Class D team include Amber Chasse, Megan Cote, Morgan Doughty and Micayla Driscoll, all of Ashland; Brea Bradbury, Kate Levesque and Keara McCrum, all of Central Aroostook; Jenna Dugal, Isabelle Jandreau and Hannah Nadeau, all of Madawaska; and Sydney Brewer of Southern Aroostook. Also making it were Riley Buck, Lexi Ireland and Lauren Reed, all of Penobscot Valley; and Sydney Tozer of Bangor Christian.

Caribou’s Alex Ezzy and Presque Isle’s Griffin Guerrette, Jonah Hudson and Randon Mortland made the Class B North squad along with Gavin Matthieu of Brewer, Michael Sprague of Erskine Academy, Levi Stedman of Foxcroft Academy, Casey Bourque of Gardiner, James Peterson of Hermon, Elijah Allen of Mount View, Jacob Harrison of Old Town; Milan Filipovich and D.J. Millett, both of Washington Academy; and Jake Lapierre and Mike Wildes, both of Winslow.

The Class C North champion Fort Kent Warriors had three players make the team in Noah Martin, Niko Naranja and Eden Paradis, while Houlton’s Nick Perfitt was another selection. Others from the division on the squad are Micah Ward and Yosef Worster, both of Central; Tanner Stegner of Bucksport, Matthew Richards of Dexter, Taylor Schildroth of George Stevens Academy, Corbett Arnold of Mattanawcook Academy, Bryce Gilbert of Piscataquis; and Benjamin Allen-Rahill, Joseph Astumian and Evan Kenefic, all of Orono.

Several local Class D players were chosen, including Drew Condon of Ashland, Isaac Cyr and Colin Goshorn of Fort Fairfield, Wyatt Foster of Hodgdon, Lance Lavoie of Madawaska and Tobyn Blatt of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. They were joined by Luke Chandler, Erik Gorczok and Dean Grass, all of Bangor Christian; Drew Hayward and Matt Miller, both of Woodland; Stephen Cochrane of Deer Isle-Stonington, Austin Grant of Jonesport-Beals, Brad McKechnie of Penobscot Valley and Nicholas Powers of Schenck.

The 44th Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet will be held Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor, with All-State teams being named along with Coach of the Year and All-New England honorees.
