Ice contributes to York Street rollover

CARIBOU, Maine — A truck rolled over after the driver lost control on the icy pavement on York Street Monday night.

Nicholas Cassidy, 27, of Fort Fairfield was driving a 2012 GMC pickup on York Street at 6:40 p.m. when he encountered a patch of ice and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to hit a tree and roll over onto its roof.

Laura Adams, administrative assistant for the Caribou Police Department, said the accident report is unclear on whether or not the vehicle came to rest on or off the road, but the damage disabled the truck and it had to be towed.

Neither Cassidy nor his passenger sustained any injuries, she said.

The accident was caused by “a combination of icy roads and driving too fast for those conditions,” Adams said.

No charges have been filed.
