HOULTON, Maine — At the Nov. 21 meeting of the Aroostook Board of County Commissioners in Houlton, the board unanimously confirmed John W. Gibson of Caribou to the position of deputy director of the Aroostook County Emergency Management Agency.

EMA Director Darren R. Woods recommended Gibson to the position, which became effective Nov. 27.  “Mr. Gibson’s experience pushed him slightly ahead of the other candidates for the position.  We are glad to have him on our team and are excited for the future.”

The role of deputy EMA director will have him working in all arenas of public safety in Aroostook County.  His main duties will be filling the roles of deputy director of the Aroostook EMA and serving as the deputy fire chief for North Lakes Fire & Rescue.

“My family and I could not be happier. We love northern Maine,” said Gibson. “I am overjoyed and extremely excited to serve the citizens of this great County.  Together we can make Aroostook thrive and be the best in Maine.”

Mr. Gibson resides in Caribou with his wife, Christina, and sons, Dean and Jack.
