HOWLAND, Maine — Caribou’s wrestling team got its first competitive experience of the season at the Penobscot Valley High School Preseason Tournament held Saturday.
Veterans Evan Michaud and Cory Jandreau led the Vikings by taking first place in the 138- and 145-pound divisions, respectively.
Seven others picked up medals at the tourney. Rylee Saucier (113) and Jonah Thayer (182) both placed third, while Matt McCormack (160), Cage Lister (182), Kirtas Jandreau (195), Chloe Kirschmann (220) and Jarred Jordan (285) all earned fourth-place medals.
Caribou is among 10 schools competing in a regular season meet this Saturday, Dec. 9, again at PVHS. The Vikes are coached by James “Chico” Hernandez. Robert Jandreau is the team’s assistant coach.
