PIMS claims County cheering title

MARS HILL, Maine — Presque Isle is this year’s Aroostook League middle school cheerleading champion after defeating three other teams during the event held at Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

The Wildcats captured first place and the host Panthers placed second. Sixth to eighth graders from Caribou and Houlton also competed.

Presque Isle took first in team motions, team dance and team stunts categories, while Central Aroostook won for team jumps and team tumbling. Houlton garnered the Spirit Award.

All-Star Awards were presented to numerous individuals as follows: grades 6-7 jumps, Hailey Quint of Houlton and Lindsey Himes of Presque Isle; grade 8 jumps, Madison Howlett of Central Aroostook and Eden Davis of Houlton; tumbling: Himes and Taylor Doyen of Presque Isle; and stunts: Presque Isle (Danica Haskell, Anna Mautz, Alex Perkins, Heather Wright and Himes).
