Final regular season ski meet held at Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine — Several Aroostook County schools gathered at the Four Seasons Trail Association Nordic course for a classic style race on Friday.

Isabelle Jandreau of Madawaska won in 20 minutes and 33.5 seconds, with Izzy Jackson of Presque Isle the runner-up in 21:35. Dolcie Tanguay of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, finished third in 22:03.9.

Caribou’s Ciara Richards and Abigail Wimmer led the way by placing seventh and eighth, respectively.

Central Aroostook Kristen Main finished fourth, followed by Ashland’s Willow Hall. Fort Fairfield’s only skier was Jessica Halsey, who was 10th.

On the boys’ side, it was another winning day for Presque Isle’s Max Bartley (16:50). Fort Kent’s Niko Naranja (18:22) was second and Caribou’s Emerson Duplissie-Cyr (18:40) third.

Alec Cyr of the Vikings came in fourth. Harrison Walter of MSSM was seventh and Tristan Pelletier of Ashland finished in ninth place.

The Aroostook League Championships for classic skiing are Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Madawaska beginning at 2:30 p.m. Presque Isle’s Nordic Heritage Center hosts the freestyle league championships on Feb. 14, also at 2:30 p.m.

The alpine league championships will be held at Bigrock Ski Area in Mars Hill Saturday, Feb. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. A scheduled regular season meet was wiped out on Feb. 3 due to the cold temperatures.
