Winterfest arrives in Mars Hill

Mars Hill’s Winterfest is finally here and promises a weekend of fun.

This year’s events will take place from Friday, March 9, through Sunday, March 11.  

Friday at Central Aroostook High School starts off with the Rotary turkey dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., a silent auction, music by Heath Bartley from 5:15 to 6:15 and the Match Your Mate Game Show at 6:30.  There will also be music in the pub at Big Rock from 6:30 to 9.

Saturday at CAHS starts off with the Community Club Breakfast from 6 to 9, grade 1 and 2 basketball from 8:30 to 10, a bake sale from 9 to 3, whoopie pie contest at 10, cribbage tournament at 10, alumni basketball from 10 to 12, FFA baked potatoes from 11 to 3, penny carnival from 1 to 3, three-on-three basketball from 4 to 8 and Bingo at the Legion at 7.  

Saturday at Big Rock will see the Youth Ski Race from 9:30 to 3, snow tubing from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4, free-style rail competition with practice from 12 to 2, competition from 2 to 4 and finals from 6 to 7. Poutine with assorted toppings will be available in the snack bar from 5 to 7, Torch Light Parade at 7:30, fireworks at 8:30, and DJ Farmer Brent in the pub from 9 to 12.  

Sunday at Big Rock, the tube park will be open from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4.

Brochures are available at various places around town.  Get ready for a fun weekend.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.  Members discussed upcoming events.

The Rotary turkey dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 on Friday, March 9, as part of Winterfest.  Cost is $8 per adult, $5 for children age 10 and under. Those who would like a dinner delivered should contact Kathy at 425-3771.

The Miss Mars Hill, Junior Miss Mars Hill and Little Miss Mars Hill Pageant will be held on Saturday, March 24.

There will be a Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 4, from 10 to 3.

Library happenings

A St. Patrick’s Day Party will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 9 to 12 at the library.  Get out your green and come have a fun time.

The next date for a Paint ‘N Sip has been set for Saturday, April 7.

Aroostook Health Center

Upcoming events for the week of March 7-13 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Residents Council at 9:30 a.m. and Cribbage Games at 1:30 p.m.  Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Exercise Fun at 9:30 a.m. and Music by The Countrymen at 1:30 p.m.   Saturday will feature Bingo with Paula at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will have televised church available in the day room and Sunday Service with Jonathan at 1:30 p.m. Monday will feature Nails with Shallie and Melissa at 9:30 a.m. and Story Time with Donna at 1:30 p.m.  Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m.
