Presence Radio drive features new format

PORTLAND, Maine — “I started listening to The Presence and it made me feel I needed to really go back fully into my faith,” said Courtney, a Windham resident who had been away from the Catholic Church for many years.

Similar testimonials appear frequently on The Presence Radio Network, Maine’s only Catholic radio network, which includes stations in Fort Kent and Presque Isle.

“We consistently hear from Catholics, non-practicing Catholics and non-Catholics that The Presence has made a real difference in their lives,” said Cynthia Nickless, the network’s executive director.

The network’s spring pledge drive will be held March 14-16 (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and March 17 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Unlike recent drives which featured local guests, this year’s focus is what makes the network itself so special.

Special guests will still drop by during the pledge drive, including Bishop Robert P. Deeley, who will appear Saturday, March 17, from 9 to 10 a.m.

“The fundraising will take place during breaks throughout our regular programming,” said Nickless. “Our listeners will be able to enjoy the programming they love while they consider supporting their network, which is funded through listener donations.”

The Presence can be heard locally on 97.5 FM in Fort Kent and 1390 AM in Presque Isle.

Other stations are 106.7 FM in Portland; 105.7 FM in Springvale/Sanford; 90.3 FM in Bangor; 89.7 FM in Bath/Brunswick; 89.5 FM in Augusta. It is also available online at www.thepresenceradio.org, on smartphones through the Presence Radio app, or by calling (605) 475-8037 to listen via cell phone.
